One might think that spanking someone is a simple task. When one uses their hand, little danger of injury to the spankee is possible, but Cindy did hurt her finger badly one time, so she only uses implements now.
When using an implement, skill and thinking is needed on the part of the spanker. (love how she smiles at his reaction) The wooden paddle must land evenly on the cheek or cheeks.

You must note that the end of the paddle should (may) go to the far cheek
However, the far tip of the paddle MUST NEVER strike first, as then it is as though the entire wood is hitting in one spot. (this paddle is not a good idea, because it has square (sharp) corners, the other paddles are rounded at the edges.)

Thus, it is always good to practice with a belt until in control of the motion to use a wooden paddle
A leather strap really is equally as effective, maybe even more effective
